Public Lecture with Irawan Asaad, ST, MSc, PhD

On 18 May 2026,  we held a public lecture with Irawan Asaad, ST, MSc, PhD on the topic “Navigating Climate Change Policy in Indonesia: The Role of National and Subnational Governments in Aligning Mitigation, Adaptation, and Loss and Damage Challenges.” . The session opened with a presentation by our Lead Political Scientist, Sirojuddin Arif, followed by insights from our Researcher, Muhammad Maulidan, and continued by Mr. Irawan Asaad, Director of Climate Change Mitigation at the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control.

During the lecture, he highlighted how climate change has become an increasingly urgent challenge for Indonesia as an archipelagic country vulnerable to rising temperatures, sea level rise, and extreme weather. He also emphasized the importance of evidence-based and integrated climate governance by aligning mitigation, adaptation, and loss-and-damage policies through collaboration between national and subnational governments, academics, and communities. We hope this discussion can contribute to broader awareness and encourage collaborative efforts toward more sustainable and resilient climate action in Indonesia.
