SEMARANG (1): KNTI Perspective (Head of DPW, Slamet Ari)
-
Unpredictable & Intensifying Tidal Floods: The frequency and intensity of tidal floods (rob) are increasing and becoming harder to predict, leading to breached seawalls and disrupted daily activities.
-
Self-Funded Adaptation: Residents are forced to raise their houses and elevate roads using their own personal savings and communal funds—a direct result of the state’s absence in providing basic infrastructure.
-
Ecological Loss for Megaprojects: Critical mangrove forests are being cleared to make way for large-scale infrastructure projects, exacerbating coastal abrasion and allowing stronger waves to hit the shore.
-
Waste & Pollution Crisis: Fishing nets are increasingly clogged with marine debris and industrial waste, significantly reducing catch yields and threatening public health.
-
Advocacy for Fundamental Rights: KNTI is pushing for the fulfillment of basic rights for fishers, including proper access to ports, fish auction sites (TPI), roads, and subsidized fuel (BBM).
-
Community-Led Resilience: Local organizations are taking action by establishing waste banks, providing legal education, and developing adaptive economic programs for women.
